Thanks for this! I'd probably loosen the language around light being a "requirement."

Are you referring to near-IR effects on mitochondrial enzymes (like cytochrome c oxidase) that can modestly influence activity?

Mitochondria don't directly use light as an energy source-unlike chloroplasts in plants, which do use light for photosynthesis-so I just want to make sure we're not conflating those two systems.
